Dr. Liza B. Lamis

Liza is an ecumenical formator, Gender Justice advocate, and a feminist theologian who believes that life is a prayer and a commitment to partner with God in loving this world. While holding the JOB (Joy of Being) as Executive Secretary of the International Committee for the Fellowship of the Least Coin (ICFLC), she also teaches part-time. Liza teaches Gender Studies and Feminist Theology at St. Paul’s Theological Seminary of the Iglesia Filipina Independiente and at St. Andrew’s Theological Seminary of the Episcopal Church in the Philippines. She also teaches Theological Research at Union Theological Seminary.

Before joining the ICFLC in January 2018, Liza was “unemployed but not without work” as she volunteered with several ecumenical groups. She was the Women’s Program Coordinator of the National Council of Churches in the Philippines (NCCP), Communications Consultant of the Christian Conference of Asia, and Acting Coordinator of the Asian Women’s Resource Centre for Culture and Theology. As well, she was involved in the work of the Association of Women in Theology (Philippines), World Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA), Asia Pacific Alliance of YMCAs, United Evangelical Mission, and her own denomination, the Convention of Philippine Baptist Churches. 

Liza is a life-long learner. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Religion from Central Philippine University; Master of Arts in Religious Studies in Women and Religion from the Institute of Women’s Studies at St. Scholastica’s College and the Institute of Formation and Religious Studies in Manila; and a Doctor of Ministry in International Feminist Theologies from San Francisco Theological Seminary (SFTS) of the Presbyterian Church, USA.  Her dissertation and project on ending sexual abuse in churches was done in collaboration with NCCP Women. 

Nature tripping, writing, gardening, and watching movies are Liza’s other passions. She also loves brewed coffee especially from Toraja, Indonesia, Il Divo, and Shah Rukh Khan.
